During Friday night’s Against All Odds 2023 pay-per-view event, Alex Shelley defeated Steve Maclin to become the Impact Wrestling World Champion for the very first time. Shelley connected with the ‘Shell Shock’ to finally fulfill his destiny, almost ten years after his partner Chris Sabin won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Bully Ray
After the match, Sabin, who had defeated Trey Miguel to win the Impact Wrestling X-Division Championship for the ninth time earlier in the night, joined Alex Shelley in the ring as the Motor City Machine Guns celebrated.
Meanwhile, Nick Aldis, who won the 8-4-1 Challenge earlier in the night, will challenge Shelley for the Impact Wrestling World Championship at Slammiversary 2023.
