As we previously reported here on eWn, Alex Hammerstone had requested his release from Major League Wrestling (MLW), but the company refused to grant it.
Fightful Select is reporting that MLW had plans for Hammerstone earlier this year after he dropped the MLW World Championship to Alex Kane at Never Say Never in July.
MLW planned a heel turn for Hammerstone wherein he would join the World Titan Federation stable comprising Matt Cardona, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Snisky, Tom Lawlor, and Mister Saint Laurent.
Hammerstone was originally open to the idea, but later changed his mind and instead pitched to work with Kane or Jacob Fatu.
Some people on the MLW side noted that Hammerstone seemed to have “checked out” and offered to help, but the former champion ended up asking for his release.
Hammerstone reportedly had a big pay hike coming up as well.
