In a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Nick Aldis discussed his upcoming match this Saturday at the Crockett Cup.
During the interview, Nick spoke about never making it to WWE. Nick, understandably, felt a great depression after his WWE door appeared closed:
“It’s gratifying to see so many people who were my peers at TNA riding so high in WWE. For whatever reason, I never got an opportunity with WWE. For me, I had a dark period because I had to come to terms that WWE was not an option, even though no one can give me a straight answer as to why. So, at the time, I didn’t know what my place was. But what I thought was the end was the best thing that happened to me.
“Your greatest disappointment can often be the catalyst for profound reinvention, and that absolutely applies to my situation with the NWA.”
Regarding his match with Scurll, Aldis said it has been building for 15 years:
“This match is 15 years in the making,” said Aldis. “This is the HBO Boxing of wrestling. You may not see us as often as you see other promotions, but when you do see us, you know you are going to see high quality.
“We’ll celebrate where this great NWA brand has been, where it’s going, and I am going to show why I am one of the most respected champions in the business.”
