The era of “KofiMania” came to an end when Brock Lesnar destroyed Kofi Kingston on the premiere episode of WWE SmackDown on FOX back in October of 2019.
Speaking on a recent edition of his Monday Mailbag for AdFreeShows podcast, former WWE referee Nick Patrick revealed that while fans may feel differently, he had no problem with how things went down. He said,
“I heard one time someone really complaining when Kofi dropped the WWE title to Brock Lesnar. They were like, ‘Oh my god, the match lasted only so many seconds.’ I was like, ‘Look man, he still got paid the same. At least he didn’t have to take 100 suplexes!’ If somebody gave me that finish with Brock Lesnar, ‘I’d have been like, ‘Thank you, man.’”
