In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins discussed his frustrations with booking and lack of direction between his fabled trilogies with Edge and then Cody Rhodes in late 2021 and early 2022 respectively.

Following his feud with Edge, Rollins moved into the WWE Championship picture, only for a myriad of changes to occur leading up to the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view event. This spawned off an insanely popular yet short-lived pairing with Kevin Owens when the latter intermittently turned heel; but Rollins’ Road to WrestleMania 38 was still rocky at best. He began,

“I would say the beginning of 2022 was the most angry I’ve ever been. There were two or three instances that, I’m not going to get into specifically, but essentially from the Day 1 pay-per-view to getting the match with Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania — that process was very frustrating for me.”

Once the Cody Rhodes rumors began circulating, though, things began to fall into place. Nevertheless, Rollins admitted that there was a period of time where all plans kept changing on a weekly basis. He said,

“It ended in a good way, and we got into a good place, but getting there was not ideal, and I very much voiced my concerns at that point in time.

There was a six-week window where everything I was told was changing from week to week.”
