In a recent appearance on the “Virgin Media Sports Stories” podcast, WWE Superstar Sheamus discussed beating John Cena for the WWE Championship at TLC 2009.

On his title win being a late decision: “Up until that day, I was losing that match, and then things changed. Cena had a lot to do with it. Cena had a lot to do with what happened that day.”
On Cena wanting Sheamus to get the push: “Also, [Cena felt] this is someone I can do business with, someone who’s a believable, believable foe to John Cena, which is what John needed. Every good babyface or hero needs is a good villain, and he saw that in me. People did not like me. People hated me.”
