Buff Bagwell once told Johnny Gargano’s father that his son would never make it as a wrestler, according to the current WWE Tag Team Champion.
On a recent edition of “Iron-On with Gregory Iron,” Gargano recalled being 17 and being part of a show hosted at his father’s pizza shop. He said,
“That’s the famous time where my dad asked Buff Bagwell if my son was going to make it. Buff Bagwell said ‘no.’ He said, ‘What do you think, Buff, you think my son has got it?’ Buff was like, ‘No. He doesn’t.’ He’s since apologized. Well, his Twitter account apologized. Not sure if he actually did it, but the person that ran his Twitter did.”
Gargano, evidently, would make it as he joined Absolute Intense Wrestling in 2006 and signed with WWE in 2016 where he has held several titles.
Gargano recently returned to AIW with Tommaso Ciampa. The pair will defend their tag team titles tonight on SmackDown against The Bloodline.
