Jason Kelce’s fandom for Rey Mysterio led to himself and Lane Johnson coming to the aid of the WWE Hall of Famer at WrestleMania 40 (Night One).
During the tag team match pitting Rey & Andrade against Santos Escobar & Dominik Mysterio, the heels were preparing to use steel chairs on Rey.
That was until two masked men helped Mysterio and the LWO before unmasking after the match and being revealed as Kelce and Johnson.
During a recent “WWE Digital Exclusive,” Kelce explained how he’s a fan of Mysterio and couldn’t let the legend be attacked with a steel chair. He said,
“We grew up watching Rey, just such huge fans and we couldn’t let Dom get the better of his dad quite yet.”
It was reported in the days before WrestleMania that WWE was hoping to get Kelce to do something at the two-night pay-per-view event in Philadelphia, PA.
Kelce and Johnson were said to be “quick learners” and “extremely respectful” to the world of professional wrestling. For more information click here.
