Trick Williams is not expected to be called up to the main roster in the 2024 WWE Draft, which begins next week on WWE SmackDown.
Corey Brennan of Fightful Select is reporting that while Williams had been discussed about a possible call-up in recent months, he will be staying in WWE NXT for the foreseeable future barring any last minute changes.
While main roster officials are said to be high on Williams, it is said that he will be the focus of NXT programming after the WWE Draft. Several pitches have been made for Williams to feud with Dijak in the summer, though that is not set in stone due to Dijak’s current contract status.
Some on both the main roster and WWE NXT believe that Williams’ talent level has yet to plateau and they think having him remain in NXT for now will do him good.
Williams has been brought to the WWE SmackDown TV tapings about once per quarter to do matches and/or segments. He’s also well-liked among those who have worked closely with him.
Additionally, it was noted that Williams’ theme song was stock music that wasn’t being used when he made his debut.
Williams will be facing off against Ilja Dragunov on next week’s episode of NXT Spring Breakin’ (Night One). If Williams loses, he must leave NXT.
