The WWE-UFC crossover began on Monday’s episode of RAW.
In a segment that aired in between matches, Samantha Irvin introduced former UFC Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler. He was seen sitting near the Netflix and TKO Group executives behind the announcers booth.
Chandler would go on to call out Conor McGregor to “get his ass back” in the Octagon to fight him.
Of course, both WWE and the UFC are under the same umbrella (TKO Group) these days so it makes sense to do this business-wise. As of this writing, there is no word on if/when the McGregor vs. Chandler fight will happen.
It’s worth noting that the WWE production is changing big time after Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn’s WWE departures, with a much more sports-orientated approach taking place. This includes showing talent arriving to the arena, more camera cuts showing the fans, changes to backstage segments, and so much more that you’ll continue to see in the coming weeks.
As we reported late last year here on eWn, the reason Kevin Dunn wanted out of WWE was due to the fact that he was well aware that these changes were coming and he wanted no part of it. From what we’ve seen, the feedback from many fans (so far) has been largely positive.
