All 5 Undertaker/Brock Lesnar Matches Ranked

Wrestlemania XXX- 4/6/2014

For every passionate wrestling fan, this was disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, the build up for this match wasn’t bad. Paul Heyman had amazing promos to set this match up and the contract signing on RAW was pretty damn cool, but the match itself was bad. Undertaker looked damn old. All of his signature and finishers (Last Ride, Hells Gate, Tombstone) looked extremely sloppy. The ending too still baffles wrestling fans. Was this the right time to end the streak? Was Lesnar the guy to do it? I really don’t know, but for the streak to end on a poor performance by The Undertaker (was injured during the match, but still) was very sad. Rating: **

No Mercy ’03- 10/19/03

I’m not a big fan of “item on the pole gets to be used if taken down” kind of matches. This was a biker chain match…yeah. There’s just something about weird gimmick matches that I don’t enjoy, and holy interference! There was interference from the F.B.I. and Mr. McMahon (who wrestled his daughter earlier in the show…yep) which just made the match cluttered. Lesnar and The Undertaker’s feud went nowhere after this either which was dumb too. The performance wasn’t that bad from The Undertaker and Lesnar though. If this would’ve been just a No DQ match with no interference, it would’ve been a solid match. Rating: ** 1/4

No Mercy '03- 10/19/03

Unforgiven ’02- 9/22/02

I thought this was a really solid first match between the two competitors. It was a very physical, brutal match. Some of the chair shots in there were hard as hell, and you’ll never see chair shots like those nowadays. The only gripe about this was it ended in double DQ, which in a title match is always a cop-out. That did set up their following match up nicely though. Rating: *** 1/4

Undisputed WWE Championship (2002)

SummerSlam ’15- 8/23/15

This match is definitely what I wanted from The Undertaker. It was a great performance from him; probably his best since Wrestlemania 29. Lesnar did a great job as well. He doesn’t disappoint when he’s put in the main event. The F5 through the announce table and the exchange of laughter in the ring to each other were probably the most memorable moments besides the finish. A lot of people were angered or disappointed on how the match finished with the tap out/pin-thing. I thought it was fine, it doesn’t take away from how great overall this match was. I’m looking forward to see what they do at Hell in a Cell next month. Rating: ****

Predictions for SummerSlam 2015

No Mercy ’02- 10/20/02

I had a hard time choosing which match to put as my number one because both this match and the SummerSlam ’15 match are both great showcases of The Undertaker and Lesnar. There’s something about this match that just got the edge. It is a very brutal, bloody, and extremely violent Hell in a Cell match. It was the rematch from their Unforgiven ’02 match and stepped it way up. It helped Lesnar build a lot of credibility as well by beating The Undertaker in Hell in a Cell. I would probably rank this match the best Hell in a Cell match of the Ruthless Aggression Era as well. Excellent match. Rating: **** 1/4
