AEW will debut a brand new pay-per-view event, WrestleDream, on October 1, at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. The show will be a tribute to the late Antonio Inoki.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that AEW will be clashing with the NFL for the first time ever on that date.

In the past, AEW President Tony Khan had booked shows on Saturdays to avoid heavy competition from the NFL, but this time it will be on a Sunday.

The NFL game will be a significant one, as the New York Jets take on the Kansas City Chiefs in what is expected to be the highest-rated Sunday night game of the season.

Although AEW WrestleDream is a tribute show for Inoki, many talents from NJPW will be unable to compete on the show.

NJPW will be in the middle of a tour and have a show scheduled for Korakuen Hall on October 1. Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jeff Cobb, Shingo Takagi, Yota Tsuji, Minoru Suzuki, Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA, and David Finlay are all booked for the NJPW show.

The only NJPW talents that would be available for AEW WrestleDream would be Will Ospreay and Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & Yoshi-Hashi).
