Sting is nearing his retirement from the world of professional wrestling. However, before hanging up his boots, he has secured a championship title.

During the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, Sting teamed up with Darby Allin in the main event where they defeated Ricky Starks and Big Bill to capture the AEW Tag Team Titles.

Fightful Select is reporting that Sting had been opposed to winning the AEW Tag Team Titles for quite some time and was initially hesitant to even compete for them. Some individuals within AEW believed that since Sting and Allin had remained undefeated, they deserved a title shot.

The decision for Sting and Allin to win the tag team titles had been made well in advance. He was all smiles backstage after the match.

Sting’s retirement match is scheduled to take place next month at the 2024 AEW Revolution pay-per-view event. Sting played a significant role in choosing his opponents for the upcoming show, as he will be wrestling against The Young Bucks.

The location for the event was changed from the Midwest to Greensboro, NC in order to accommodate Sting’s farewell.
