Fightful Select was the first to report that WWE was close to finalizing an appearance from a former WWE Champion for tonight’s ‘Day 1’ episode of RAW before Triple H noted in a tweet to “stay tuned.”
While the specific details about the “WWE Champion” have not been confirmed yet, it is unlikely to be someone like a former Hardcore Champion.
According to the report, none of the talent or creative sources they spoke to knew who the person would be. As of early this afternoon, it was planned for the person to have a full segment in the middle of the show.
They were also informed that it would not be Mercedes Mone, as her recent talks with the company fell through. It is worth mentioning that The Rock was in Pasadena for College Gameday today, which is only a few hours away from the location of RAW.
