While there was no attendance announcement for WWE’s Backlash pay-per-view event on Sunday night, the event had few empty seats. The show was not a sellout but despite much of the upper deck being tarped off, the attendance was around 9,800 to 10,000.

The Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL (just outside of Chicago) was well on its way to selling out and had 9,500 tickets sold but ticket sales completely stalled when matches began being announced. By comparison for WWE events held at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, a September 2016 RAW live event (house show) had an attendance of 9,500 fans while a March 2016 episode of Monday Night RAW drew 10,800 fans. WWE’s Payback 2014 pay-per-view event had an an announced attendance of 13,311 fans and WWE’s Extreme Rules 2015 pay-per-view event drew 14,197 fans. WWE’s Payback 2016 pay-per-view had an announced attendance of 13,250.
