John Cena made a surprise appearance at Saturday’s WWE Money In The Bank 2023 pay-per-view event and shared the ring with Grayson Waller.
During his appearance, Cena proposed a future WrestleMania being hosted in London.
Fightful Select has provided an update on Cena’s comments regarding the likelihood of WWE holding a WrestleMania event in London.
When asked about WrestleMania potentially coming to London at the post-show media scrum for Money In The Bank 2023, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H jokingly thanked the 16-World Champion for putting him in an “unenviable position.”
Triple H further noted that WrestleMania in London would be tough to execute, but he said that “never say never.”
WrestleMania 40 is currently scheduled for Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 6 and 7 in 2024.
WWE is also reportedly in the late stages of finalizing the venue for WrestleMania 41. That means WrestleMania in London is only a possibility from 2026 onwards, which is three years from now unless WWE makes some kind of drastic change following the overwhelming response at the O2 Arena for Money In The Bank 2023.
It was reported earlier in April that Minnesota is a possible location for WWE WrestleMania in 2025.
In addition, WWE sources suggest that WrestleMania in London doesn’t seem to be a possibility at the moment.
However, the report suggests that a survey taken near media day enquired about which cities in the UK would be the most convenient for a potential Royal Rumble or SummerSlam show in the UK. The cities listed as the options on the survey were London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Glasgow. It is to be noted that the survey did not mention WrestleMania as a potential event.
WWE is yet to hold a stadium show in London since SummerSlam 1992 at Wembley Stadium. The last stadium show WWE held in the UK was Clash At The Castle in September 2022 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Speaking of Cena’s appearance at WWE Money In The Bank 2023, it was kept a well-guarded secret very close to the event, and very few people were aware of Cena’s appearance.
In addition, Cena was only scheduled to appear for WWE Money In The Bank 2023, and it was simply a one-off appearance. However, his status could potentially change if his schedule allows for a few WWE dates.
WWE was reportedly very pleased with how things were executed with regard to his in-ring segment featuring Grayson Waller.
Cena wrestled in WWE earlier this year, unsuccessfully challenging Austin Theory for the United States Championship in the opening match at WrestleMania 39 (Night One).
