Chris Jericho has said that he was offered the role as an AEW Executive Vice-President when he joined the company but turned it down.

Jericho joined AEW in January 2019 and that same year became their first World Champion, holding the title for 182 days before losing to Jon Moxley.

Speaking to SI.com, Jericho said he was offered the chance to be an EVP alongside Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks but said no:

“The only reason I wasn’t an EVP is because I didn’t want to be. They asked me and I said, ‘No, that’s way too much work for what you’re planning on doing.’ And Tony Khan’s the boss, anyways. I knew that from the start. So I wasn’t going to play grab-a– and use EVP as an ego boost. F**k that. Just give me more money. My job was to be a big star and make new ones so everyone is valuable.”

Jericho will face Eddie Kingston tomorrow night at AEW Revolution 2022.
