Could Warner Bros. Discovery be more than just AEW’s broadcast partner and actually own a piece of the company? Eric Bischoff believes so.

Recently, news broke that WBD is eager for AEW to introduce monthly pay-per-views, akin to WWE’s current schedule of pay-per-view events.

On his “Strictly Business” podcast, Eric Bischoff suggested that this request from WBD could be because they are partly in charge of Tony Khan’s promotion. He said,

“My first thought is why? Why would Warner Discovery … encourage AEW to produce more pay-per-views? My guess is because Warner Discovery owns a piece, and they see the revenue and they want a share in it. I’m guessing they do right now … I’m guessing that … Warner Discovery … probably owns a piece of AEW, that’s part of their overall deal. And as such, sees revenue potential there that is readily available and they want at it. I’m more convinced now, just based on that question.”

AEW has a handful of pay-per-views each year, including Revolution, Double or Nothing, All In, All Out, and Full Gear.

Last year, AEW added the Forbidden Door crossover event with NJPW to its schedule and will host AEW All In 2023 from London, England next month.

For context, Warner Bros. Discovery owns Bleacher Report, the distributor of AEW’s pay-per-view events.
