AEW Dynamite Results (5/8/2024)

#1. Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Beretta – Winner: Orange Cassidy

A frustrated Trent Beretta hits Cassidy with a vicious piledriver in to the steel steps, and then a catapult in to the metal frame under the ring. Orange somehow grabs a steel chair, and Don Callis comes to his side to get between them. The fighting ends there.

Earlier tonight, The Elite show up to the venue. They initially have issues getting parked until they are given Tony Khan’s reserved spot. Then, we get a recap video of what happened to Kenny Omega last week. Following this, Jungle Boy says Kenny Omega was not the hero everyone needed him to be. He is a coward, AEW doesn’t need him, and it is time for The Elite to change the world.

After the commercial break, Kenny Omega talks from the hospital. As an EVP, he has business to conduct. He books an Anarchy In The Arena match at Double Or Nothing between The Elite against FTR and two others, who will introduce themselves later.

– Tony Schiavone gets a word with Serena Deeb. She is excited to be wrestling Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship and is aware of this narrative that Deeb can’t beat her. As much as that upsets her, she understands it. Losing is not an option. Several months ago, she made her in-ring return, and it was the hardest 15 months on the shelf.

So, for people who don’t know, she suffered three unprovoked seizures. It was the most traumatic experience she has ever had. Serena saw all the doctors to figure out why it happened, and nobody could explain it. What she learned is that most people don’t know. What stuck in her mind was finally becoming Women’s World Champion, and this vision stayed with her.

Toni Storm joins her. She thought she was going to hear from her challenger, but all she heard was a charity case. Serena tells her to take this seriously. She is coming to fight. Storm says everything she has gone through, that she doesn’t give a single solitary s***. Toni tries to lay in a cheap shot, but Serena sees it coming and knocks her out cold.

#2. Mariah May vs. Harley Cameron – Winner: Mariah May

Saraya attacks May after the match. Mina Shirakawa is here to help her friend, so Saraya puts Harley in the way. Mina and Mariah almost kiss again, but Mina doesn’t allow it this time. The pair drink some wine to celebrate.

– Backstage, Pac isn’t happy about losing to Okada. Jay White interrupts with The Gunns to tell him maybe he should go after the Continental Championship, and show him how to win a match.

– Malakai Black shares a vignette highlighting Adam Copeland acting like the family man, but deep down he is a twisted, evil human being. He wants to show Copeland who he really is.

– Next up, Swerve Strickland enters the ring to tell us he is in a foul mood. We see what happened last week, when Christian Cage and The Patriarchy attacked him. He calls out Cage to have a face-to-face. They exchange some insults, before the Mogul Embassy come to Strickland’s side.

He dares Christian to come after his title. We all know when Christian is facing an uncomfortable position, he will say I quit. Brian Cage blindsides Swerve! And then the rest of the Mogul Embassy beat up Strickland. They finish the champion by smashing him through the announce table, while Christian Cage can do nothing but smirk.

#3. Rocky Romero vs. Jay White (w/ The Gunns) – Winner: Jay White

Just as it looks like Bullet Club Gold will beat up Romero, Pac heads toward the ring. They want nothing to do with him.

#4. Chris Jericho & Big Bill vs. Mo Jabari & Harlon Abbott – Winner: Jericho & Bill

Chris Jericho is proud to be holding the FTW title, and even more so of Big Bill. Tony Schiavone lets him know Hook is returning next week, and Jericho is excited about it.

#5. [No Disqualifications for the TNT Championship] Adam Copeland (c) vs. Brody King – Winner: Copeland retains

Brody King attacks Copeland after the match, that is until Kyle O’Reilly makes the save.

Mercedes Mone says a few words about her match with Willow Nightingale, Adam Copeland accepts a match with Kyle O’Reilly, and The Elite goes to the ring to give Kenny Omega a message. Okada wishes him the best and to get well soon. Matthew Jackson wishes Tony Khan well, too, before telling him they were never here to hurt AEW. He should have got out of their way.

Nicholas accepts the Anarchy In The Arena match. FTR arrives to let them know their partners will be Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson! Of course, the episode ends with an all out fight between The Elite against their opponents at Double Or Nothing.
