At the WWE Superstar Spectacle media scrum on Friday, eWrestlingNews.com’s Tathya Sachdev caught up with The Scottish Warrior, Drew McIntyre.
In a brief chat, McIntyre, when asked about his previous experience in India when he had visited Mumbai on a promotional tour, said the following:
“Oh, I loved it. It was a phenomenal experience. I mean, the fans were just unbelievable. I had heard just how popular WWE is in India and to experience it with my own eyes and meet some of the fans myself was unreal. The food was fantastic and, I can’t wait to actually wrestle. That was all that was missing last time, getting to perform for the Indian fans. And now we have a sold-out crowd in Hyderabad, the first live event since 2017 and it’s going to be something else.”
McIntyre then segued to the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, set to emanate from India starting next month. He said,
“I’m actually a little disappointed I won’t be here next month. You’ve got the One Day International Cricket World Cup coming up, gosh, it’s just that our schedule is quite cramped. I would have loved to just come over for a few matches, have a blast. I’ll have my eye on for that, for sure, and good luck to the Indian team, they’ve got some crazy batsmen knocking the balls out of the park.”
When asked about his favorite moment since his return to WWE in 2018, McIntyre said,
“It would have to be winning the WWE title at WrestleMania when the world had just shut down. I was still very worried about what was going on, and what the future might hold, but we had that escape by watching WWE. I was able to represent and lead that escape for the world as a WWE champion, especially winning it at WrestleMania.”
