Former X-Division Champion Jake Crist has shed light on asking for his release from Impact Wrestling back in January of 2020.
In response to a fan suggesting Impact Wrestling made a mistake letting Jake Crist leave, the former X-Division Champion stated that it was his choice to leave. He said,
“They didn’t let me go, I asked for my release two or three weeks when my contact was about to be up in January of 2020. After sitting around for 6 months and not hearing a word from them. I thought that would be best for me. This has been a rebuilding process for me!”
Crist would also comment on how his situation was different to other recent Impact departures, as well as stating he asked for help from the company when his mental health took a turn for the worst and did not receive it:
“My Situation was different, I don’t blame them for keeping me off. But the 6 months was hell for me not knowing if I had a job, I went into a mental breakdown, I asked for help and didn’t get it! But, it’s all good. I over came that sh*t on my own.”
Jake Crist was a member of the Impact Wrestling roster between 2017-2020. He would return to the company for a one-off appearance challenging then X-Division Champion Josh Alexander in late 2021.
