According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Kairi Sane’s WWE contract has expired.
Meltzer notes that the decision to leave the company was Sane’s. WWE wanted her to remain with the company, but Sane reportedly did not want to live in the US again.
A former NXT Women’s Champion, Sane had been working in Japan as an ambassador for the company after being written off WWE television back in July of 2020. She also provided commentary for the company for the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in June of this year.
Sane’s departure from the company was rumored earlier this week when she removed all mentions of WWE from her social media accounts.
There is reportedly interest from World Wonder Ring Stardom to bring Sane back to the company. Sane wrestled for the organization between 2012-2017, where she was a multi-time champion. Despite the interest from STARDOM, an approach has not been made yet to bring her back.
