WWE released Jeff Hardy on Thursday after he was sent home over the weekend after he looked sluggish and left through the crowd during a match at a live event. Hardy reportedly declined WWE’s offer to get help and go to rehab.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Hardy was fully aware that if he refused rehab then he would likely be fired or suspended.
He has a 90-day-non-compete clause and will become a free agent on March 9th. It was added that WWE did this with full knowledge that Hardy could end up in AEW. The Hardy Boyz have expressed a desire to team up again before they end their in-ring careers.
