Rey Mysterio will be a WWE Hall of Famer by this time next week, but is his induction coming too soon?

When Rey is inducted this Friday night, he will become one of very few active Superstars to be inducted, joining the likes of Ric Flair who was inducted before his retirement in 2008.

After being inducted in 2018, Bill Goldberg continued to wrestle sporadically for WWE before his departure from the promotion last year.

Speaking on his “The Kurt Angle Show” podcast, the Olympian, a 2017 inductee, suggested that this induction is happening too soon for Rey. He said,

“I’m so happy for him. I’m surprised that, you know what, I’m not surprised they are not doing it when he retires. But, you know, I think Rey being inducted into the Hall of Fame this prematurely, I think he deserves it still; I just don’t think it’s the right time. I think he should get into the Hall of Fame after he retires. But that’s me, and I’m old school, and that’s how I think.”

Rey will be inducted alongside The Great Muta and Andy Kaufman, with the latter being part of the Hall of Fame’s celebrity wing.

After being inducted, Rey will compete at WWE WrestleMania 39 this weekend where he will face Dominik Mysterio.
