As noted earlier today here on eWn, it has been exactly one year to the day that WWE fired numerous Superstars, backstage workers, producers, and employees due to COVID-19 related budget cuts. On this same day last year, Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder in WWE) was fired. Today, Cardona’s real-life girlfriend and fiancée, Chelsea Green, was fired. Following the news of Green’s release, she and Cardona both took to Twitter to react. Cardona said,
“I was literally making a post about how this past year has been a blessing in disguise as the news of these releases broke. You will all be fine. Work your ass off. Create your own opportunities. I love you @ImChelseaGreen. You are a ****ing star. A ****ing star.”
He continued, “WWE 4:15 says I just fired your ass.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea Green posted a photo from her days in Impact Wrestling and said, “Welcome back, it’s been a while.”
