A new report from Fightful notes that they have spoke with several WWE talents over the last week, all of whom are discouraged and low on morale. Some of these talents stretch across all spots on the WWE card, from consistent main eventers, newer names in the company, veterans, as well as those who are rarely seen on WWE television. All names spoke of decreasing morale within the locker room.
Last Saturday’s 2022 WWE Royal Rumble match reportedly caused a serious amount of frustration for those in the WWE locker room. These issues mainly focused on the way the matches were produced. This was broken down as issues surrounding a lack of moments, a failure to capitalize on angles built ahead of the matches, as well as a failure to allow many of the roster to maximize their presence.
One longtime talent noted that the feeling that nothing matters outside of “maybe” four people is one they feel. It was also added that “over half a dozen” main roster talents pointed to issues with continuity in WWE with several talents feeling that they are without a voice in the company.
This was then seemingly corroborated by another talent, who stated that in the time they have been with WWE they have never felt “less heard.” Their attempts to speak with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon have also fallen on deaf ears, being ignored, or met with haste. In some extreme situations, they also believed that ideas they pitched would go in the opposite way in a seemingly spiteful way. They have also seen storylines go one way for extended periods of time, before reverting back to something the talent had already pitched months prior.
A source said, “If you see a complaint with merit and in good faith about something that lacks sense, logic or continuity, I almost guarantee we have complained too, it just never changes anything.”
It was also noted that several of the WWE talent believe an impeding sale at some point is the only way they can make sense of some of the current decision making.
