Shane McMahon has been the subject of controversy since Saturday’s WWE Royal Rumble, as he was apparently responsible for the booking of the Men’s Royal Rumble match that led to poor reception by people backstage in WWE, and of course, the WWE Universe as well.

McMahon booked the Royal Rumble around himself, placing himself at a high number (#28) and was booked to be in the final four, being the second-to-last man eliminated by Brock Lesnar, who would go on to win the Royal Rumble match after having lost the WWE Championship earlier in the night against Bobby Lashley. Lesnar entered at #30 and would go on to dominate and win the match earning himself a world championship match at WrestleMania 38.

Due to all the chaos that ensued behind the scenes, word is that Shane was reportedly “let go” (quietly released) by WWE. The creative team was told by WWE officials there will be no more creative based discussed around Shane McMahon moving forward, as one of the plans for Shane was to be a regular on the RAW brand heading into WrestleMania 38.

Shane’s father, and WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon is reportedly using the term “let go” when referring to the situation with his son. One other source reportedly added, “Vince had no choice. Shane created chaos, had everyone in an uproar, pissed off everyone in the Rumble, openly buried other producers, and was changing things that Vince wanted. Vince had no other choice but to send him home.

We here at eWrestlingNews.com will have more on this story as information continues to come in.
