Mike Rome was reportedly supposed to return to his ring-announcing duties for WWE NXT on Tuesday, but that wasn’t the case.
While Alicia Taylor conducted the ring announcing duties, Shawn Michaels later announced that she was heading to SmackDown.
Fightful Select has provided additional backstage notes from Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT, along with an update on the change.
According to the report, Rome was present at Tuesday night’s show but reportedly did not stay for the entire duration. Several WWE NXT sources indicated that Rome was “re-familiarizing himself” with the NXT brand before he resumed his announcing role there.
Although there was a belief that he would be working Tuesday night’s show, that was not the case. However, Rome was reportedly enthusiastic about his return to NXT.
In a video shared by Shawn Michaels on social media, Taylor received a warm goodbye from the crew and talent backstage at Tuesday night’s taping.
Additionally, the recent NXT talent releases were a common topic of discussion backstage at the NXT TV tapings. Some people were reportedly frustrated at some of the cuts.
It is worth noting that hip-hop star Sexyy Red’s reaction to the Meta-Four and Trick Williams segment was reportedly a partnership with the rapper and WWE NXT. Fans can expect more interactions between Red and NXT in the future.
