AEW is nothing more than a casual hobby for the company’s president Tony Khan, according to Eric Bischoff.
In recent years, Bischoff hasn’t been quiet about his criticism of AEW and has also been critical of two-time former AEW World Champion CM Punk.
Ahead of Punk’s return to AEW TV as part of Collision, Bischoff made his views clear yet again when speaking to Ariel Helwani. He said,
“They have all the money in the world, which is a nice thing to have, but without vision and without a true understanding of the industry, it’s just a really cool hobby.
“And that’s what AEW is for Tony Khan. It’s a hobby. It’s a really, really, really well-funded hobby that we all get to watch and participate in on television.”
Bischoff added that CM Punk’s return will not be good for morale and that he “can’t live up to the expectation” that people have of him.
Punk will team with FTR to face Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe during this week’s episode of AEW Collision.
