Eric Young was interviewed by earlier this week by
G.Y.M
.. Here
are the highlights…

On aspirations of going to WWE at some point:
“Sure I’ve had lots of thoughts of it, TNA didn’t exist when I was a kid, so
that (WWE) is what I watched. You can’t ever say “NO” but I’m super happy where
I am, and I wouldn’t change where I am, I have my own television show and this
amazing life all because of TNA, have I thought about it? Have I come close a
couple times? sure. I have been with TNA 10 years now, and I hope that
continues, I LOVE IT here.”

On the misconception of wrestling/wrestlers:
“Ignorance isn’t the world for it, pro wrestling doesn’t get the respect in the
Production and real world of Television. TNA put out over 114 hours of original
content alone last year, that’s INSANE! That’s just IMPACT on Spike TV, not
house shows, extras, social media or anything going on. The Write it,
pre-produce it, produce it, post-produce it and put it on air. The numbers on
Spike are strong, they don’t dip too far one way or another, its on 52 years a
year and has been for over 10 years. Pro Wrestling is a multi-media phenomenon
and it gets NO RESPECT. Its been owning television for years, what other show
does in between a 1.2 and a 3.5 on a weekly basis all year round? I will tell
you what show…NONE.”

On his new show debuting soon on Animal Planet:
“They are REALLY gonna be pushing it, its a big deal for Animal Planet, they
usually pick 3 or 4 shows they really push each year and mine is one of them,
which is super flattering. I have been chosen to host “MONSTER WEEK” this year,
which is Animal Planet’s big Media Week. It happens the week before Memorial Day
and it looks like the new show is gonna air Friday after Memorial Day, the 30th
I believe (not set in stone). It’s a Spin Off of “OFF THE HOOK: EXTREME
CATCHES”. I meet someone that is cool and does something dangerous, and I do it
with them. Lumberjack olympics, high lining (walking across a canyon in Utah
about 800 feet up on a tight rope, trim red woods and all kinds of amazing
adventures I get to go on. Its funny, scary, interesting and probably the thing
I’m MOST proud of that I have ever done. Exact details coming soon.”
