Sting will team with Darby Allin to defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks in a Tornado Tag Team match this Sunday at AEW Revolution 2024 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that AEW has acquired classic footage of Sting from New Japan Pro Wrestling.

AEW can also acquire footage from Pro Wrestling NOAH, as Sting wrestled there with Darby Allin for The Great Muta farewell event.

Obtaining footage for the bulk of Sting’s career would be difficult, as WWE owns the footage from his time in Mid-South Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, and WCW.

Footage that WWE doesn’t own includes AJPW (which includes four matches, including one taped in Budokan Hall vs. Dan Spivey), TNA (2003-2014), Memphis, and World Wrestling All-Stars.

It’s expected that any footage owned by WWE will not be a part of AEW Revolution 2024.
