AJ Styles has said that he and Omos were “spinning our wheels” during their run as a tag team last year.
Styles was partnered with Omos in late 2020 and captured the RAW Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania in the latter’s first match on the main roster.
This win also marked Styles completing the WWE Grand Slam, after previous reigns as WWE, United States, and Intercontinental Champion.
Speaking with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, Styles admitted that the pair did little during their on-screen alliance, despite a lengthy reign as Champions:
“I thought, ‘here is an opportunity for me to help this young monster develop and be someone unbelievable one day. It was exciting at first when we were tag champs, but then there was a lot of times where we were spinning our wheels based on what we were given and the parameters in which we could do it. It did make it difficult.
