WWE Superstar John Cena may very well be on his way back to the squared circle in the near future. As we reported on Saturday here on eWn, Cena has been quoted as saying he misses being in WWE. There are also some reports that he’ll be making his return on the July 16th episode of SmackDown, which begins WWE’s 25-city live tour with the WWE Universe returning.

According to Pwinsider, Cena will be wrapping up his filming for a new HBO Max series, “Peacemaker”, on July 9th in Vancouver, British Colombia. This is a series that will serve as a prequel to The Suicide Squad, in which Cena plays as the character Peacemaker. The movie is set to air in theaters on August 6th and also on HBO Max. Despite promotional work for the film, Cena would be freed up to return to WWE starting in July.

At this time, the plan for Cena’s return is still under discussion. Cena’s last WWE appearance was at WrestleMania 36 (2020) in a loss to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in a bizarre, cinematic style “Firefly Funhouse Match”. Despite originally being featured in the promotional graphics for WrestleMania 37 this year, he obviously did not appear at the event due to prior commitments.
