On Thursday night, WWE held a WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
During the presser, it was announced that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns would be taking place at WrestleMania 40. The Rock called the match “the biggest match in professional wrestling bound by blood.” This led to the two men hugging it out.
Cody Rhodes then came out and called the match “bullsh*t.” Rhodes went on to announce that he had made his decision – he’ll be facing off against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
An irate Reigns then told Cody that he was an embarrassment and irrelevant “just like your dad.” The two went back-and-forth on the microphone in a heated exchange. Rhodes asked Roman Reigns and The Rock if their grandfather’s were alive today, would he be ashamed of them? The Rock responded by saying to not mess with their family. The Great One said they now have a problem, which led to The Rock slapping the American Nightmare. Triple H and other WWE officials then came out to separate all of the parties involved, including Seth Rollins. There was lots of cussing between both sides.
In the end – it was a confusing scene as nobody seemed to know if Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns was made official as the WrestleMania 40 main event. There were teases of Roman Reigns vs. The Rock, Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns & The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins.
UPDATE: Triple H has confirmed that Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns will headline WrestleMania 40.
